    • Edey rolled an ankle in his second NBA Summer League game, against the New Orleans Pelicans.
    • Edey, the two-time consensus National Player of the Year, debuted with a double-double in his first summer league game.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Zach Edey's impressive NBA Summer League ended after only two games.

The Memphis Grizzlies announced the former Purdue center has been shut down for the rest of the summer after only two games due to a sprained ankle. The Commercial-Appeal reported Edey is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Edey debuted with a 14-point, 15-rebound, four-block performance, affirming the Grizzlies' decision to select him ninth overall in June's NBA draft. However, he rolled an ankle in that loss to the Utah Jazz and missed the next five games.

He returned Friday with a quick six points, three rebounds and a block in the first quarter against the New Orleans Pelicans. He walked to the locker room under his own power but did not return.

Edey missed only one game in a Purdue career that saw him twice named national player of the year. He led he Boilermakers to their first Final Four berth in 44 years and a national championship game appearance this past season.
