MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The request to lower an alleged shooter’s $1 million bond was denied, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Rogers’ bond was set at $1 million, but he requested it to be reduced to $100,000.

According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, the request was made because of Rogers’ “clean record and potential self-defense claim.”

After hearing from two witnesses, a lieutenant and the victim’s wife, the State argued that Rogers’ illegal gun possession and the nature of the shooting made him a danger to the community.
