MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After a five-day trial, a jury has now convicted a man for a shooting back in 2021 that left his coworker dead.

Jayden Dorsey , 23, was convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter and Tampering with Evidence on Friday.

On May 12, 2021, officers say they responded to a shooting call at the Carriage Court Apartments in Cordova. A man, later identified as Mark Windsock, was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to reports, before Windsock was taken to the hospital he told police, “JD shot me”. Windsock later died due to his injuries at the hospital.

Soon after, police say that Dorsey was named a person of interest when they discovered he was known as “JD” and worked with the victim at Mid-South moving company.

Surveillance video from the night of the shooting also revealed that Dorsey’s vehicle was there minutes before first responders arrived to help the victim.

Dorsey was then taken into custody for questioning where he confessed to the shooting. At that time he was charged with First-Degree Murder and Tampering with Evidence.
