Brutal temperatures continue to cover the Mid-South

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - It's Wednesday and not so breaking news...it is HOT. Too hot.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in place until 8pm Thursday as we are expecting temperatures to feel above 105° across the entire area.

    Thursday Heat

The heat index on Thursday will remain above 100 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

There is no meaningful rain headed our way, although a shower/thunderstorm can't be ruled out early Friday through the day.

This will bring temperatures down a little...back to average numbers for this time of year. It's still going to be hot, but...slightly more tolerable. Only feeling close to 100° so no need for any Heat Alerts.

    Thursday Heat Alerts

Much of the Mid-South will be under an Excessive Heat Warning on Thursday.

This is short lived as we see our temperatures soar right back to the upper 90s by mid-week next week.

I have included the dangers of hot cars in heat like tomorrow-not hard to see how that could easily become a death trap...as well as the asphalt temperatures for dogs' paws...it could cause serious burns to their feet!

One thing of note- our morning low temperatures are also about to be record breakers for 5 if not all 6 of the next mornings. This may not seem like that big of a deal compared to the wild heat in the daytime BUT when these temperatures aren't dropping overnight to a low enough point, our bodies cannot cool off effectively and it can cause more damage/death. This will be very dangerous for those without strong fans or functioning AC over the next week.
