Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama didn't waste much time making an impact in his Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games.

The 7-foot Aldama, playing for Spain, led his native country with 27 points in a 92-80 loss against Australia on Saturday.

Aldama set the Spain record for most made 3-pointers in an Olympics game with six. He attempted eight 3-pointers. Aldama added six rebounds.

Spain had been one of the most accomplished basketball countries of the 21st century, led by the likes of former Grizzlies stars Pau and Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio and Rudy Fernandez.

The Grizzlies could sure use some of those 3-pointers for the 2024-25 season in October. Aldama is expected to be a stretch big who can knock down 3-pointers and space the floor for the stars in Memphis. He's shot 33.3% on 3-pointers in his first three NBA seasons.

Aldama is the lone current Grizzlies player representing his country in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Spain will be in action again on July 30 against Greece.
