Suspects shoot at diners at East Memphis restaurant while breaking into cars: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men were arrested after shooting at customers eating at an East Memphis Mexican restaurant on Sunday.

On July 26, officers responded to a car theft at Christ Community Health Services on Frayser Boulevard, where they were told that a 2017 Infiniti Q60 was stolen from the lot.

On July 28, just before 4 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at Happy Mexican located at 6080 Primacy Parkway. Reports say suspects in a white Nissan and a blue Infiniti were breaking into cars on the lot.

People sitting on the patio at a nearby restaurant began yelling at the suspects, who then fired shots toward the business.

Police say the Nissan fled the scene and crashed. The suspects abandoned it on the scene.

On July 30 at 2:21 p.m., officers said they saw a 2017 Infiniti Q60 in the area of Knight Arnold Road at Knightway Road.

The tag on the Infiniti was registered to a different vehicle, but the car matched the description of the blue Infiniti involved in the aggravated assault two days earlier on Primacy Parkway.

MPD allegedly attempted to stop the vehicle, but it refused, initiating a pursuit. Police say the Infiniti seemed to have engine problems, causing it to stop near Interstate 240 West and Airways Boulevard.

Three suspects ran from the vehicle, police say.

Markaveon Walker and Murdock Britt were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. The third suspect is not in custody.

Britt, 27, was charged with theft of property to wit: motor vehicle $10,000-$60,000 and evading arrest on foot.

Bond had not been set for either of the suspects.
