After several similar proposals failed to pass the legislature, SB 729 passed the Assembly with resounding support. Two men accused of allegedly traveling from California to Massachusetts with cocaine and methamphetamine valued at over $10.5 million
BOSTON – Two Indian nationals were indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston yesterday in connection with the distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine. According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, 28-year-old Simranjit Singh and 19-year-old Gusimrat of Fresno, Calif. were each charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, and one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. Both men were arrested on July 29, 2024 and have remained in federal custody since their arrests.

Ukiah Branch Library hosts art walk
On September 6 and October 4, from 5-7 p.m., the Ukiah branch of the Mendocino County Library presents a program on Chinese brush painting. A demonstration by artist William Shi will show the art of brush painting in watercolor and oil. The events include live music and a book sale.
Hospice of Ukiah grief recovery support group to begin in September
An eight-week grief support group offered by Hospice of Ukiah will be starting on Sept. 5, continuing every Thursday until Oct. 24. The free group is provided as an aid to anyone who has lost a friend, relative or loved one – in the immediate past or at an earlier time.
