Grand Forks AFB To More Than 100 Satellites Next Year
(Grand Forks, ND) — Grand Forks Air Force Base will be the base of operations for 160 satellites operated by the Space Development Agency by the end of next year. Senator John Hoeven recently joined SDA director Derek Tournear on a tour of the new Operations Center North, which is set to be completed next month. The satellites will be part of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, which is a high-speed communications network. Officials say Grand Forks could be the base of operation for 250 satellites by 2027.
Severe Storm Potential This Evening
MONDAY: Temperatures will climb back into the mid-80s for our region so it will be a hot, sunny Monday. A few isolated storms this evening develop in the Devils Lake basin/northeastern ND. These have the potential to produce hail up to the size of golf balls. The second round of storms arrives a couple hours later and pushes through southeastern ND and the southern Valley. These storms will have the potential to produce large hail as well as damaging wind gusts to 70 mph. Stay weather aware!

Elevated Risk For Severe Weather In South-Central North Dakota
South-Central North Dakota is at an elevated risk for severe weather this afternoon and this evening. We have been put at a Level 2 risk for severe thunderstorms. They are expected to develop after 4 pm this afternoon, Monday, July 29th. The storms are expected to start out in western North Dakota and move east across the state.
