    2024-04-18

MENOMINEE — Swirling winds and frigid temperatures did little to slow down the Menominee golf team in Tuesday’s non-conference triangular match against Stephenson and Bark River-Harris.

Despite battling winds that often exceeded 20 miles per hour, both the Maroon boys and girls squads were able to top their respective fields.

The Menominee girls cruised to a team-score of 207, well ahead of runner-up Bark River-Harris (249) and third-place Stephenson (265).

Meanwhile, the Maroon boys breezed their to victory with a team score of 173, more than 30 strokes better than BR-H, who finished second at 205. Stephenson was third with 236.

Stephenson’s Owen Kueanau and Menominee’s Nate Schultz both shot the lowest overall score of the afternoon, finishing with a 41.

Kueanau was the only Eagle golfer to finish with a sub-50 afternoon.

Zach Schwartz backed up Kueanau with a score of 64, while Reegan Kakuk was close behind at 65. Trevor Verba and Brock Motto both finished with 66s.

The other Maroon boys’ scores were Jake Schultz (43), Keegan Wickstrom (44), Jonah Slawinski (45), Connor Coduti (52) and Aidan Robinson (53).

On the girls’ side, Menominee’s Lexi Marineau and BR-H’s Ava McDonough tied for the low-round score at 47.

Kora Beaudo paced the Lady Eagles with a 50, the same as Menominee’s Mackenzie Doyle.

Ava Chouinard (54) and Anna Axtell (56) rounded out the Maroon girls’ scorecard.

Cheyanne Palzewicz (68), Jazmyn Havelka (72), Eva Schultz (75) and Bridget Paidl (76) made up the remainder of the Lady Eagles’ scores.
