MENOMINEE — Four members of the Menominee High School boys basketball team garnered All-State recognition from the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan on Thursday.

Sophomore Tanner Theuerkauf was one of 29 players in Division 3 to earn a spot on the BCAM’s Best (All-State) team after leading the Maroons in scoring with 15.7 points per game.

He averaged 4.4 rebounds, 2.,1 assists and 1.9 steals for a Menominee team that advanced to the MHSAA Division 3 State tournament quarterfinals.

“Tanner really blossomed this year. He attacks the rim so hard and finishes really well around the basket. His athleticism and scoring ability really gave us a boost,” Menominee coach Sam Larson said.

Tanner’s older brother, senior Trevor Theuerkauf, received BCAM Division 3 Honorable Mention. He averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals and five assists.

“Trevor was our floor general and in addition to being one of the better players in the state, he’s without a doubt one of the best leaders in the state,” Larson said.

Nathan Schultz received the BCAM Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award for achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 over above and playing four years of high school basketball.

Schultz sports a GPA of 3.96.

“Nathan made a big jump for us this season,” Larson said. “He always knew where to be, communicated well defensively, and rebounded outside of his area.”

Senior Landan Bardowski was bestowed the BCAM’s 2024 Team First Award. The award honors Bardowski’s “teamwork, commitment, service and sacrifice” on behalf of his team, teammates and school.

“Landan is a guy that would do whatever it takes to win. On a lot of teams, he’d probably be in the starting lineup, but we loved his spark and energy he brought off the bench,” Larson said.. “He is tough as nails, just a warrior, and would sacrifice himself and his body for the team.”
