MENOMINEE — Add “All-State performer” to Anna Axtell’s already untouchable resume after the omnipresent point guard for the Menominee High School girls basketball team collected All-State recognition from the Detroit Free Press on April 20.

Axtell, a senior, received Division 3 Honorable Mention and was an indomitable force on the court for the Maroons with a stat line of 20 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 4.3 steals per game.

Already an All-U.P. and All-Great Northern Conference First Team performer this year, Axtell wraps up her four-year career as one of the most decorated athletes to ever grace the halls of Menominee High.

Axtell is a three-time All-GNC and three-time All-U.P. selection, an All-GNC Defensive Team choice as a junior, and was the GNC’s Defensive Player of the Year this season.

She became just the fourth player in Menominee girls basketball history to score 1,000 career points on February 27 against Carney-Nadeau, finishing her career with 1,054 points.

Axtell set the Menominee High School single-season scoring record with 520 points and set a new standard for most steals in a season with 94 swipes.
