    Doyle finishes first, Slawinski third at Marquette GNC match

    MARQUETTE — The Menominee golf team doubled up on fourth-place finishes at Monday’s Great Northern Conference match from the Heritage Course at Marquette Golf Club.

    The Maroon boys finished with a combined 170, four behind third-place Gladstone (166) and eight ahead of Kingsford, who brought up the rear with 178.

    Escanaba topped the boys’ field with a combined 161, edging Marquette (164) by three strokes.

    On the girls’ side, the Lady Maroons turned in a scorecard of 223, just two strokes behind Marquette (221).

    The Lady Flivvers took top honors with a 210, five strokes better than Esky, who finished with a 215. Gladstone was a distant fifth with 288.

    Kingsford holds a slim lead over Escanaba in the GNC standings, with the Lady Flivvers collecting 14 conference points compared to 13 for the Eskymos.

    Marquette is third in the GNC with 11 points, with Menominee (6) and Gladstone (3) ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

    Mackenzie Doyle finished tied atop the girls’ individual standings with a low-round score of 50 alongside Marquette’s Abby Luke and Kingsford’s Grace Maki.

    Lexi Marineau placed sixth overall with a 52, two strokes ahead of Anna Axtell (54), who finished in a three-way tie with Esky’s Kamrie Scott and Sophia Derkos for eighth place.

    Ava Chouinard shot a 67 to round matters out for the Maroon girls.

    Jonah Slawinski led the Maroon boys with a score of 40, putting him in third place.

    Marquette’s Jacob Pond won the boys’ competition with a low-round score of 39, putting him one stroke ahead of teammate Boden Moore.

    Keegan Wickstrom (42) finished in a four-way tie for tenth place with a 42.

    Nathan Schultz (47), Connor Coduti (48) and Jacob Schultz (49) completed Menominee’s scorecard.

    Menominee is third in the boys’ GNC standings with eight points. Marquette leads Esky 14-13, while Gladstone (7) is fourth and Kingsford (3) is fifth.
