Town hall will focus on youth marijuana/cannabis use

    2024-05-15

MENOMINEE — Communities that Care (CTC), Public Health Delta Menominee Counties, and the Healthy Youth Coalition (HYC) of Marinette & Menominee Counties, welcome Marinette and Menominee County families to attend a special town hall on youth marijuana/cannabis use at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 in the lecture hall at Menominee High School.

Light refreshments will be provided, and prize giveaways will also be available for a chance to win. Presentation is recommended for students ages 13 and up and any adults with youth in their lives that would like to learn more about youth substance use. Families do not need to attend Menominee School District to attend the presentation.

The organizations received a Drug-Free Communities Support Grant, an MDHHS Substance Use, Gambling and Epidemiology selection (SUGE) and a Provident Health Foundation grant to host this town hall to educate our community on the consequences of youth marijuana/cannabis use and the impact on brain development and mental wellness. Presentation features comedian and professional speaker, Dr. Matt Bellace, Ph.D., whose message provides an insightful, science-based and “seriously funny” approach to substance abuse prevention and mental awareness.

For questions about the presentation/event, please contact the Healthy Youth Coalition at 906-863-5665.1038 or klesperance@mc-isd.org.
