MENOMINEE — The Menominee High School softball team ran its winning streak up to six games with a doubleheader sweep of Stephenson on Friday.

Menominee’s offense continued to swing the lumber in game one, as the Maroons pelted the Eagles with 14 hits, half of which went for extra bases, to record a 13-3 victory.

Game two saw the Maroons feast on a buffet of walks, 21 of them to be exact, which helped Menominee score 16 runs on only five base knocks in a 16-1 shellshacking.

The two squads plated a trio of runs each in the top of the first before the Maroons hammered the Eagles for five runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good.

Menominee hung three more runs on Stephenson in its half of the third before fitting the finishing touches on the blowout with a two-spot in the bottom of the fifth.

Kam Olson belted her sixth home run of the year as part of a 3-for-3 outing at the dish.

Ava Johnson, Addy Johnson, Mady Barker and Kadyn Olsen all legged out doubles, while Barker and Piper Ayers both collected triples.

Ayers was also the winning pitcher in game one, tossing three innings of four-hit ball while issuing one walk and striking out five.

No comeback was needed for the Maroons in the nightcap after Menominee erupted for seven runs out of the gate to take a six-run lead.

Another five runs in the bottom of the second made it a 12-1 contest, while another three runs in the following frame put the game out of reach for the Eagles.

Barker added another triple while tacking on three RBIs. Alyssa Graves went 1-2 with two ribbies and three runs scored, while Olsen and Phoebe Barrette both had base hits.

Olson tossed a four-inning no-hitter in game two, allowing one earned run on two free passes while piling up eight strikeouts in the process.
