‘Yellowstone’ Sequel Series Makes Major Casting Announcement

Yellowstone producers have revealed key details, including a major casting announcement, about their forthcoming sequel series.

After Yellowstone ’s final season bows on Paramount+ in November, the series will spin out into a second prequel series following 1923 , set to take place in 1944; and a sequel which will continue the arc of some returning Yellowstone characters while introducing new soon-to-be fan favorites.

On Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the sequel series’ title and star. Dubbed The Madison , Yellowstone ’s sequel series will star legendary actress Michelle Pfeiffer. She will also executive produce opposite franchise mastermind Taylor Sheridan.

“ The Madison is described as a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana," the outlet states.

“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity, and grace,” said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global. “She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, The Madison , from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.”

Pfeiffer joins an elite rank of Hollywood actors who have joined up for Sheridan’s Yellowstone -verse. Kevin Costner infamously left the series he helped to establish after contractual disputes and scheduling conflicts with his directorial project, Horizon: An American Saga . Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford also star in 1923 .

Matthew McConaughey was rumored to take on a leading role in The Madison , but ultimately a deal was never struck. No announcement has been made regarding which, if any, of Yellowstone ’s present cast members will make their way into The Madison .
