Robin Williams was beloved by those he worked with in addition to his own family and friends. The Mrs. Doubtfire star's shocking death by suicide in 2014 rocked the entertainment world as well as those closest to him. Now, a decade after his death, his son Zak Williams is reflecting on his father's passing.

Zak penned a heartfelt note to his late father in an Instagram post on Sunday to mark the 10 th anniversary of Williams' death on Aug. 11, 2014.

"Dad, it’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years," he wrote. "Today, I’m reflecting on the immense love you shared with all of us—your family, your friends, and everyone you met."

"You continue to inspire me every single day to do whatever I can to help create a more connected and loving world for our family," Williams concluded. "Love you forever."

Many of those who knew Williams can share touching stories about their time together. In an Aug. 5 interview with Vanity Fair , Oscar-winning actress Sally Field reflected on the death of her father while working with Williams on Mrs. Doubtfire and the actor accommodating her rather than making her push through it to get the job done.

"I got a phone call from the doctor saying my father had passed—a massive stroke ," she recounted. "I was of course beside myself."

"I came on the set trying with all my might to act. I wasn’t crying. Robin came over, pulled me out of the set, and asked, ‘Are you OK?'" she continued, initially denying anything was wrong before revealing that her dad had just died. Williams immediately wanted her to prioritize grieving and post-death logistics over filming scenes.

"'Oh my God, we need to get you out here right now,'" she remembered the actor saying. "And he made it happen—they shot around me the rest of the day. I could go back to my house, call my brother, and make arrangements. It’s a side of Robin that people rarely knew: He was very sensitive and intuitive."
