Dr. Dre is most known for his hit songs and enduring presence in the world of hip-hop. But the Grammy winner actually has a lengthy history with one sport, and he's so excited about the Olympics coming to his hometown in 2028 that he's hoping to compete in the Summer Games himself.

The "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" rapper opened up about his Olympic dreams in an Aug. 12 interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I'm trying to try out for the Olympics in 2028 ," he revealed. "I'm dead a-- serious."

When asked if he would compete in breaking, which made its debut in Paris but isn't a part of the Los Angeles Olympic program, the 59-year-old quickly shut down the idea. Instead, he hopes to pick up a bow and arrow and bring home the gold in archery for Team USA.

While it might seem like a strange choice for Dre, he isn't a complete stranger to the sport. In fact, his history with archery goes back decades. "I actually started playing around with archery in junior high," he explained.

"I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup," the Compton native continued. "I have it set up in my backyard. And I heard that qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90."

"Wouldn't that be interesting to go—especially with it being here in L.A.—and win the gold medal?" he mused.

Dre has already gotten the chance to participate in some LA28 proceedings. On Aug. 11, Dre took the stage in Long Beach with Olympic correspondent Snoop Dogg for the Olympic handover celebration as part of the 2024 closing ceremony.

The countdown to July 14, 2028 is on.
