Ever the fast food innovators, Taco Bell is constantly introducing new menu items . But unfortunately, this ever-changing menu sometimes leaves fans in the dust . As such, the chain is testing a new "Nostalgic Menu" to bring back discontinued products from throughout the decades, many of which haven’t been available in years.

Starting on Thursday, Aug. 15, Taco Bell will be featuring a curated menu of "iconic hits" from the '60s through the aughts, including the Tostada, Green Burrito, Meximelt, Gordita, and Caramel Apple Empanada. Although the throwback items will be initially be exclusively available at three Taco Bell locations in Southern California for a limited time only, the company is hoping to bring the menu nationwide later this year.

    Here's a breakdown of the returning fan-favorites:

    • Tostada (1960s) : One of Taco bell’s original menu items when it opened its first location in 1962, the Tostada is "comprised of a crispy corn tostada shell, layered with savory refried beans, tangy red sauce, crispy lettuce and shredded cheese." It will be available for $2.19.
    • Green Burrito (1970s) : This "luscious" burrito that gained popularity in the '70s is "filled with savory refried beans, crunchy onions, shredded cheddar cheese and green sauce made with green chili, tomatillos, jalapeño peppers, and spices." It will be available for $2.49.
    • Meximelt (1980s) : A "legendary" ‘80s fan-favorite, the Meximelt is made with freshly-prepared daily pico de Gallo and a blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheeses, all melted with "craveable seasoned beef" in a tortilla. It will be available for $2.99.
    • Beef Gordita Supreme (1990s) : The Gordita features "pillowy warm flatbread filled with savory seasoned beef," reduced-fat sour cream, crisp lettuce, a blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheeses, and it comes topped with diced tomatoes. It will be available for $2.99.
    • Caramel Apple Empanada (2000s) : The most recent item on the nostalgia menu is also the only dessert item. It's described as a "golden-brown empanada with a crispy exterior filled with apple pieces and a flavorful creamy filling with caramel notes." It will be available for $2.99.

"Thanks to our rich history, we have a vault of craveable products our fans have become passionate about and we continuously explore ways to reintroduce the ones that deliver on the comfort and value they are looking for," said Taco Bell's chief marketing officer Taylor Montgomery in a statement . "Now, we're thrilled to unite two groups of fans: those who fondly remember these menu items and those who have yet to experience the delight of a Caramel Apple Empanada or savor their first bite of a Meximelt with this menu."

The Nostalgic Menu will be available at the Barranca, CA and the Brea, CA Taco Bell locations from Aug. 15 through the 21st; as well as at its Fullerton, CA restaurant from Aug. 15 through the 19th while supplies last.
