There's been a major new development in the death of Matthew Perry . The beloved Friends actor was found drowned in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home last October, and an autopsy later found ketamine in his system . Now, several arrests have reportedly been made of the individuals who allegedly supplied Perry with the drug.

TMZ spoke with law enforcement sources who said that multiple agencies have executed search warrants, seizing computers, phones, and other electronic equipment to find the culprits. Among the evidence are supposed text messages that discussed Perry, including the ketamine he wanted, how they were going to get it to him, and how much he would pay for it.

Though Perry had been receiving medically supervised ketamine infusion therapy for his anxiety and depression, he had not been treated for a week and a half prior to his death, indicating that the ketamine in his system had not been legally prescribed by a doctor.

In fact, TMZ notes that the level of ketamine in Perry's system was the same used for general anesthesia in surgery.

At least one person has reportedly been arrested as a result of the criminal investigation, which has been ongoing for months in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and U.S. Postal Service. NBC News confirmed with law enforcement sources that at least one arrest was made in Southern California early Thursday. Federal prosecutors are expected to unseal an indictment by the end of the day detailing the allegations against both the individual arrested and others who allegedly helped arrange and deliver ketamine to Perry.

Arrests in drug-related deaths are unusual, but not unprecedented. Several individuals who were accused of supplying rapper Mac Miller with fentanyl that led to his September 2018 overdose death were convicted, with the head dealer receiving a sentence of 17-and-a-half years in federal prison back in 2022.
