Labor Day is right around the corner, and Americans across the country are gearing up to celebrate one last great summer holiday weekend. Just where are they going?

AAA's latest booking data shows some interesting trends for this Labor Day. According to the organization, Seattle is the number-one Labor Day weekend destination. Surprisingly, bookings to the Emerald City are up nearly 30 percent from last year, when it was also the top domestic destination for Labor Day travelers. Overall, domestic travel over the holiday weekend is up 9 percent compared to last year.

While other common travel destinations like New York City and Las Vegas make the list, only one state boasts two entries in the top 10, and it's likely not one you'd expect: Alaska, with Anchorage at number three and Juneau at number nine.

The Alaska travel in particular could be linked to travelers taking cruises around The Last Frontier out of those cities.

"This is the time of year to go on an Alaska cruise," AAA Travel senior vice president Paula Twidale said in a statement. "There are fewer crowds compared to earlier in the summer, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of fall colors! It’s no surprise Alaska cruises are sold out this Labor Day weekend ."

Next summer might be a ways away, but if you're interested in going on an Alaska cruise in summer 2025, book now to get the best rates and room availabilities.
