Patrick Mahomes Has a 'Specific' Pre-Game Meal

Patrick Mahomes has certain rituals he maintains for his top-tier game day performances like wearing the same pair of underwear for good luck . His pre-game meals are just as important.

The Kansas City Chiefs star's wife Brittany Mahomes spoke about her husband's game day food consumption on an Aug. 28 appearance on the Whoop podcast. "He has specific things he eats," she said. "On game day, it’s like a grilled chicken sandwich with French fries and ketchup."

It's not the only calorie-heavy meal he's been known to eat before a big game. "In previous [years], it would be, like, a cheeseburger , but he’s come a long way," she said.

Of course, when he's on the road or not at home, Mahomes has eaten what's provided to him. If he happens to be with his family before heading out for a game, he won't deviate from his usual meal.

"The night before games, he’s not normally home, so he’s at a hotel or at an away hotel. And so, they provide him dinner," Brittany explained. "But if he is at home on game day, he gets a grilled chicken sandwich with French fries every day."

Clearly the diet is working for Mahomes, who earned his third Super Bowl ring and MVP title in four years earlier this year. Whether or not he switches up his go-to meal before games this season remains to be seen.
