M&M’s Fans Rejoice as Discontinued Flavor Revived After Nine Years

M&M's is reportedly debuting a brand new flavor this fall that hearkens back to a limited-edition variety that was discontinued nearly a decade ago. And it seems safe to say that fans are on board.

According to the junk food and sweets news Instagram account CandyHunting, the brand's parent company, Mars, Inc., is expected to launch new Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M's at the National Association of Convenience Stores trade show, taking place in Las Vegas in October. A mock-up of the packaging shows the ( formerly "sexy" ) green M&M holding a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with one finger suggestively dipped into the filling.

The new variant's "flavored peanut butter filling" is believed to be similar to the Strawberried Peanut Butter M&M's that were introduced in 2009 as a tie in for the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen . The flavor stuck around for six years before ultimately being discontinued in 2015.

It's presently unclear how similar the new Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M's will be to its predecessor, but suffice to say, fans are getting excited.

"LFG! I’ve been wanting something like these ever since I discovered the Strawberried Peanut Butter ones used to exist back in the day," commented New York City-based food blogger Marcus Smith. "Finally! I've dreamt of this flavor for a real long time. Dreams do come true!" gushed one user.

"Those PBJ M&M's that were tied in to ... was it Transformers ? I can’t remember what movie but those were SO GOOD!!" correctly surmised another.

As far as how the brand will infuse the new candies with jelly, the food ranking and product review website Spoked notes that per the render, the M&M’s look identical to a regular Peanut Butter M&M’s. The Strawberried Peanut Butter M&M's had the strawberry flavor either baked into either the candy shell or milk chocolate (depending on which old reviews are accurate), so based on the description, it appears that may very well be the case here.

The exact date of when the new Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s launch nationwide is unclear, but consumers can probably find them on shelves in 2025.
