Wild Photos Show Small Plane Crashing Upside-Down on Golf Course

Golfers in the Denver area got quite a shock when a small plane crash-landed on the course yesterday morning.

The incident happened around 9:45 a.m. local time at Meridian Golf Club in Douglas County, Colorado , approximately 20 miles south of downtown Denver. According to CBS News , South Metro Fire Rescue crews arrived at the scene after a Cessna 172 crashed on the 7 ^th hole's tee box. The small plane, carrying two passengers, ended up upside-down on the grass after crashing on the course.

Thankfully, the two flyers were practically unscathed as they were both able to walk away from the mangled heap of metal. Authorities reported that one of them had minor injuries but refused transport to the hospital for further treatment while the other had no injuries at all.

Photos from the scene shared by South Metro Fire Rescue indicate that the aircraft was seemingly a part of the fleet used by ATP Flight Academy, a nationwide flight school with campuses all across the country.

Meridian Golf Club is located just south of Centennial Airport. According to local fire rescue crews, the plane had just departed runway 17R at the airport before crash-landing on the course. They cleared the scene shortly thereafter.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown.
