In 2013, Flappy Bird became a massive phenomenon that took the mobile gaming world by storm. Now, more than a decade after its shock removal from app stores, the game is set to return to phones everywhere.

According to IGN , an all-new, expanded version of Flappy Bird will purportedly be coming to web browsers by the end of October with a full launch for iOS and Android planned in 2025. Unlike the original, however, the new app is being developed by The Flappy Bird Foundation, described as "a new team of passionate fans committed to sharing the game with the world."

“We are beyond excited to be bringing back Flappy Bird and delivering a fresh experience that will keep players engaged for years to come," Flappy Bird chief creative Michael Roberts said in a statement. "We have big plans for our little bird!"

The premise of the game was simple enough: Tap your finger to make a digitized bird flap its wings to get through gaps between pipes. Although it appeared easy on its surface, many frustrated users struggled to raise their high score and work harder to improve.

At the height of Flappy Bird 's fame in 2014, the game's Vietnam -based creator Dong Nguyen removed the game from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store despite it making tens of thousands of dollars a day at the time. Nguyen claimed he did it because of the stress of being known worldwide for his creation and concerns of players becoming addicted to the game.

Time will tell how many people will get addicted to this version, especially with some changes.
