Titanic remains a hallowed piece in pop culture nearly three decades after its record-breaking release. And still, all these years later, behind-the-scenes fun facts continue to surface, sometimes thanks to the film's stars themselves.

On Sept. 23, Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet spoke at the 92 nd Street Y in New York City at an advance screening of her upcoming movie Lee . At one point during the Q&A, Winslet is asked about the infamous "door scene" toward the end of the film when her character Rose is left to float on a broken door while her lover Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio , sinks to a watery grave.

Winslet divulged some of the moviemaking secrets that made the heart-wrenching moment come alive on screen.

"First of all, I was regularly like, 'Can I just go for a pee ?' And then I get up, get off the door, walk to the edge of the tank sort of 20 feet away, and I literally have to fling my leg over and climb up and come and get back on the door again," she recounted, per People . "It's terrible."

"It was waist-high. Leo I'm afraid to say was kneeling down," she continued. It was some interesting behind-the-camera information, but Winslet quickly realized she'd said too much.

"I shouldn't be saying [this] anyways," she added, quipping that the film's legendary director James Cameron is going to be upset about her revealing how the sausage is made. "Jimmy Cameron's gonna be ringing me."

Needless to say a small tank is a far cry from the icy waters of the North Atlantic. Meanwhile, the actual door used to film the iconic scene just sold at auction earlier this year for a whopping $718,750.
