Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile Customers Experiencing Service Outage

North Carolina residents struggling to contact their families in the wake of Hurricane Helene aren't the only Americans experiencing cell service outages this week.

On Sept. 30, Verizon customers began reporting service outages in major cities like New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix, per Deadline . The troubles weren't limited to Verizon, however; according to the service outage tracker site Down Detector , AT&T and T-Mobile customers have also been reporting connectivity issues.

Verizon addressed the outage on social media and reassured customers that they were working to restore service.

"We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue," the company wrote on X.

AT&T, meanwhile, claims its network isn't down.

"We are not experiencing a nationwide outage," AT&T noted. "Our national network is operating normally. Down Detector is likely reflecting challenges our customers are having attempting to connect to users on another network."

The outage comes on top of a detrimental lack of cell service in North Carolina in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene's landfall . It remains to be seen just when cell service for some Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile customers in other markets will be restored.
