On the latest episode of Max's Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? , now streaming, Jim Parsons revealed whether or not he would return to The Big Bang Theory for a reboot or reunion of the hit CBS sitcom.

Parsons played theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper throughout the show’s 12 seasons. In 2018, he and co-stars Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid television actors. Fellow co-star Kaley Cuoco came in second on Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actresses.

“Would you ever consider a reboot of Big Bang Theory or, God forbid, a reunion show,” Wallace asked Parsons, who proceeded to give a surprising answer. “As we sit here now, no,” Parsons said thoughtfully, “but I also I would I never say never to anything, because life just changes so much.”

Parsons and Big Bang love interest Mayim Biyalik did appear together on the final episode of the prequel series Young Sheldon, but Parsons doesn’t consider that a proper reunion.

Part of his hesitancy to return stems from fear that a reboot or reunion wouldn’t do the original series justice. “You know, one of the things that was so special about it was what it is. And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason,” Parsons said, “and you can be certain it wouldn't be that. And so why would we be doing it? I don't know, that's how I feel on that right now. But like I say, God willing, life is very long.”

Parsons has nothing but warm memories of The Big Bang Theory , and he realizes how lucky he is to be a part of one of television’s most popular shows . “The headline for me is always that it was the most insane, fortunate blessing that I could have ever asked for,” he said of his time on the show.

The Big Bang Theory is streaming on Max, as are new episodes of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?
