A Grand Forks Council Member Voices Her Concerns of the Planned Children’s Museum
(KNOX) -Approval on a final plan for the Altru Indoor Sports and Aquatics Complex and Children’s Museum in Grand Forks is about two months away. Grand Forks City Administrator Todd Feland said the proposal will include the Children’s Museum even though there is some opposition by members of city council. “We’ll try to get you something well in advance so you have time to review it. We will ask probably late September, that we move forward with a final design on a facility,’’ Feland recently told the Grand Forks Committee of the Whole.
Family fun night, free root beer floats Thursday for Corn Capital Days
(Olivia MN-) Dirks Park in Olivia will be the place to be this evening for Olivia Ambulance Family Fun Night from 5 til 8 p.m. as Olivia Corn Capital Days Continue. Other events Thursday include the used book sale at The Olivia Library from 11 to 7 p.m., FM Bank and Olivia FFA free root beer floats from 1 to 3 at the FM Bank parking lot, home run derby at Dirks Field from 5 to 8, and league volleyball starting at 630 at Bryly's Den.

The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s basketball program announced the addition of Kloe Wadd (F/C, 6-2, Waseca, Minn./Waseca H.S.). Wadd will be a sophomore at Minnesota Crookston and is the sixth signee for the Golden Eagles joining Brynlea Mahlen of Fosston, Emme Munch of Boise, Idaho, Emma Osborn of Crookston and a transfer from NCTC, Willow Thiel of Perham, and Halle Winjum of Crookston.
Man accused of scamming Minnesota woman out of +$100,000 gold bars, cash
WARREN, MINN. (Valley News Live) - A man in Pennsylvania has been arrested, accused of scamming a Minnesota woman out of more than $100,000 in gold bars and cash. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says they first received information from an officer in McKinney, Texas about Mutahir Ahmed Kahm.

State gas prices rose last week and reached an average of $3.31 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday, up from last week's price of $3.29 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The average fuel price in state has risen about 9 cents since last month. MN Representative Tom Murphy tours Brunswick’s New York Mills operation
Last week, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) facilitated a tour of Brunswick Corporation’s New York Mills Operation with State Representative Tom Murphy (GOP House District 9B). The tour offered a comprehensive look into Brunswick’s manufacturing footprint in Minnesota, particularly in the production of Lund and Crestliner Boats. Representatives from Brunswick and NMMA underscored the marine industry’s vital role in the state’s economy to the state representative.
Minnesota Looking to Increase Numbers of This Animal
The Minnesota DNR in collaboration with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa plan to move elk from the northwestern part of the state to the northeastern part of the state near Cloquet and north. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the plan is to transfer 15 to 20 elk from the northwestern part of the state to the northeastern part with the hopes of growing the herd. Schmitt says elk used to live in that part of the state many years ago. He explains the plan is to do this annually starting in 2026 until the elk reproduce on their own.
One year since marijuana legalization and expungement efforts are still underway
We’re approaching the one year anniversary of the legalization of recreational marijuana. On top of businesses readying themselves to sell marijuana, the state cannabis review board has been hard at work looking at who is eligible to have marijuana-related criminal incidents expunged from their record. It’s a process that will change the lives of hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans with criminal records.
