The Cleveland Guardians swung a trade for outfielder Lane Thomas on Monday evening, satisfying the need for another bat in the lineup. WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Yes, Mike Vrabel was just like so many other Cleveland Browns fans when he was growing up in Akron. "Absolutely ate the dog bones, you know what I mean?," Vrabel, now a coaching and front-office consultant for the Browns, said Tuesday at The Greenbrier. "I don't think you were a Browns fan in middle school in Northeast Ohio if you didn't try to get down a couple of those, because they were necklaces, right? They make the dog bones and the necklaces and then you'd just kind of go down and grab one every once in a while."

Cleveland has been one of the great success stories in baseball this season, as they have rallied around rookie manager Stephen Vogt to become an AL powerhouse. They entered play on Monday with the best record in the American League at 63-42 and the second-best record in all of baseball, only trailing the 65-40 Philadelphia Phillies.
Mary Ann Mahoney
Mary Ann Mahoney died on July 19, 2024. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on March 4, 1933. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen A. Mahoney, MD. She is survived by her stepchildren, Lora Mahoney and Stephen A. Mahoney IV. Granddaughters Raphaelle Miller (Jamie), Ella Kunkel and Alidar Edmond, great-grandchildren Nolan and Ensley. She graduated from Tulsa University and earned her MA from Cleveland State University. She taught for many years in the Shaker Heights schools. After retirement she taught reading at Ruffing Montessori School, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Mary Ann was active in the early music field and involved with Apollo's Fire. She was also active in the Cleveland Opera League and at one time served as president. She and Steve loved to sail and spent half the year in Maine. She was an excellent harpsichordist and enjoyed playing the harpsichords Steve built. She will be missed by all and especially her dog Bertie. The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic Hospice and Visiting Angels for their care and kindness. Cuyahoga County court sentences man to 30 years for 2 sexual assault cases
LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WOIO) - A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after sexually assaulting three girls in Lakewood. Damaine Bringht was sentenced to 19 years for the assault of the three girls, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced Tuesday. Bringht was also sentenced to 11 years for an unrelated sexual assault case.
