Guardians add starting pitcher before deadline, acquire RHP Alex Cobb from Giants for prospects
CLEVELAND (AP) — Sticker shock kept the Guardians from trading for an elite pitcher at the deadline. They opted for an experienced one instead. Priced out of the market for one of the top available starters, the Guardians added much-needed depth to their rotation by acquiring right-hander Alex Cobb from the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The AL Central leaders were among several contenders pursuing a front-of-the-rotation starter and ended up settling for the 36-year-old Cobb, who hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since hip surgery last Oct. 31.

Art Show at LGBT Center Features Work of Three Artists
Through the month of August, a three-person art show called Visual Vibration will be on view at the LGBT Center of Great Cleveland. Curated by Kelly Pontoni, it includes two of the arts who appeared in the show Converge, featuring work of LGBTQ+ artists, that she curated for Artists Archives of the Western Reserve in 2021: actor/visual artist Ray Caspio and painter/sculptor Mark Howard. It also includes work by architect Randy Hoover.
AEW tax credit from Ohio could mean future special event for Cleveland
As part of the state’s Motion Picture Tax Credit Program, AEW will be getting a sizable check from the Ohio government for unnamed events to be held in 2024 and 2025.
