11:58 AM: One month after Sound Credit Union closed at 4730 California SW in The Junction, there’s an early-stage permit filing for a new tenant: Gene Juarez Salons and Spas. The Seattle-founded chain – owned by an L.A.-headquartered investment firm since 2018 – has filed a site plan for the 2,700-square-foot space from which SCU cleared out at the end of June. Gene Juarez currently has 12 locations around the region. We have an inquiry out to the company to ask about the prospective West Seattle salon.
High Street Residential Closes on Land in Seattle for 244-Unit Multifamily Development
High Street Residential, Trammell Crow Company’s Residential Subsidiary, Will Develop a 244-Unit Apartment Community in Seattle’s Roosevelt Neighborhood. High Street Residential (HSR), the residential subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company, a global real estate developer, closed on a nearly one-acre development site next to the Roosevelt Light Rail Station and announced plans for a future 244-unit multifamily building at the property. HSR is planning to break ground in late 2024.

Victim identified in Broadway alley shooting
The man shot and left to die in a Broadway alley over the weekend has been identified as Kidus Ayele. Police found Ayele down in an alley near Broadway and Spruce, shot in the face and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after gunfire was reported in the area around 12:30 AM Saturday, according to East Precinct radio. Seattle Fire says Ayele died at the scene.
