On the girl’s side, East Juniata blanked Mifflinburg, 2-0, and Greencastle-Antrim shut out Mifflin County, also by a 2-0 count.

In other area action, Red Land beat the Mifflin County girls tennis team, 5-0, while Palmyra defeated the Huskies’ field hockey team, 9-1. Upper Dauphin won in straight sets over the Juniata volleyball team.

The Phillies have won five straight with yesterday’s 5-2 win in Miami. The Pirates knocked off visiting Washington, 9-4.

The Eagles open up their 2024 NFL season tonight, playing Green Bay in Brazil. You won’t see it unless you have a paid subscription to Peacock.

Mifflin County plays its final home opener at Mitchell Field tonight, hosting Mechanicsburg. Juniata is on the road, at Line Mountain. Mount Union travels to Curwensville and Huntingdon is at Bellwood-Antis.

Tomorrow, of course, is 8th-ranked Penn State’s home opener, as the Nittany Lions host Bowling Green with a noon kickoff from Beaver Stadium.
