East Juniata’s girls led by one at the half before Lilly Goodling added a second half insurance goal as the Tigers beat the Juniata soccer team yesterday, 3-1.

Juniata’s boys, meanwhile, returned the favor, beating EJ by the same 3-1 score, thanks in part to a pair of second half goals from Anthony Maradiaga.

Elsewhere on the pitch, Waynesboro beat both Mifflin County soccer teams, the boys, 2-0, and the girls, 3-0. The Huskies’ field hockey team was shut out by Hershey, 4-0.

Mifflin County’s golfers finished second of seven teams, losing only to Mechanicsburg. Colby Seiler shot a season-low 75 to win the event individually for the Huskies.

The Phillies have won three in a row with yesterday’s 3-2 victory over visiting Tampa Bay.

The Pirates also picked up a midweek win, beating Miami, 3-1.

And Week Two in the NFL kicks off tonight with Buffalo traveling to Miami. The Steelers are in Denver late Sunday afternoon while the Eagles host Atlanta on Monday night.
