    Man arrested in Meriden after search of property with violent past

    MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 41-year-old man was arrested in Meriden on Saturday after police found a firearm while conducting a search of a property with a checkered past.

    According a release, Meriden Police Department served a search warrant at 190 Grove St. in an attempt to recover evidence from a recent assault that took place at the property. Police said numerous violent incidents have taken place at the location, including a murder.

    Around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday morning., a team serviced the search warrant and found evidence of alcohol sales, among other pieces of evidence. Alyssa Clausell, 26, and Stephen Jenkins, 38, were arrested for interfering with police at the scene.

    During a search of the second floor, police found a firearm hidden in a couch. Raphael Jacobs, 41, was arrested for the firearm. As he’s a convicted felon, Jacobs was charged with criminal possession of a firearm.

    Jacobs was released after posting a $500,000 bond. Jacobs is scheduled to appear to court on July 29.
