    Running 4 Heroes to honor TFC Pelletier with 1-mile run

    MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Running 4 Heroes invites anyone who wants to honor fallen state trooper Aaron Pelletier to run with them on Friday.

    The Running 4 Heroes event will be held at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy in Meriden at noon.

    Officials said a youth runner will be escorted to the police memorial to film a brief introduction video before starting a one-mile run around the track to the next memorial.

    At the end of the run, she will present the flag she ran with to TFC Pelletier’s family or Troop H personnel if the family is not in attendance.

    Anyone wishing to run is welcome to join, the organization said.

    Hartford man charged with manslaughter in death of state trooper on I-84 in Southington

    Pelletier, a nine-year veteran with the Connecticut State Police and K-9 handler, was conducting a traffic stop on May 30 on Interstate 84 in Southington when he was hit by a vehicle . The 34-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

    On Wednesday, his name was engraved on the Connecticut Law Enforcement Memorial at the Training Academy.

    According to state police, Pelletier will receive official honors on National Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15), when all fallen Connecticut law enforcement officers are remembered.
