Woman killed in shooting following dispute in Meriden

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Meriden police are investigating a deadly shooting following a dispute Monday night on State Street.
Police said they were called to the area around 10:10 p.m. for a report of a dispute and shots fired. Officers found an unidentified adult woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased on scene.
Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, police announced they blocked off West Main Street at Colony Street to prevent traffic from moving west past the police station and up Colony Street to Grove Street for an investigation.
Officers confirmed the roads were closed due to the investigation.

According to police, the woman and the person involved in the dispute knew each other, and there was no threat to the public.
Police have not yet released the name of the woman who was killed. No arrests have been made.
Police asked people to avoid State Street and Meriden Green while investigating. The green reopened to the public just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
State Street was also closed for the investigation, impacting the operations of the Meriden train station and the CT Transit bus line. The area reopened, and operations were restored before 5 a.m. Tuesday.
