A motorcyclist and a Good Samaritan were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Saturday night following a hit-and-run in Meridian.

According to Meridian police, a Ford F-150 truck “made a sudden, un-signaled lane change” and struck the motorcyclist, who was trailing the truck and was also in the process of changing lanes. The driver of the Ford continued driving “at a high rate of speed.”

Meanwhile, a bystander got out of their vehicle to help the motorcyclist, who was thrown off the motorcycle, and an additional vehicle struck the motorcyclist and the citizen, police said. The initial collision occurred at approximately 11:37 p.m. at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Venture Street, near The Village and Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 26-year-old Michael Green, was located by Garden City police off of Five Mile Road in west Boise, police said, about 3 miles from the collision. Police conducted a traffic stop on Green and he was arrested.

The motorcyclist and bystander, who have not been identified, were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said. The motorist who struck them stayed on scene and was not charged with a crime, a Meridian police spokesperson said.

Green, of Boise, was uninjured and charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence and felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in an injury or death, according to online jail records.

The hit-and-run happened about two hours after a separate hit-and-run in downtown Boise sent two to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect in that hit-and-run, 46-year-old Jacob Miller, is being held jail on a $1 million bond, according to online court records.
