POCATELLO — A food truck in Meridian that specializes in pizza cones is hoping to franchise their company and bring the speciality eats to East Idaho.

Tyler Blake, owner of Coned Pizza, said he and his wife started the business eight years ago. They started out as a food cart, but they have expanded since then.

"We have four food trucks, two concession stands at Albertsons Stadium and a restaurant," he said. "We are in the process of franchising."

Coned Pizza features several different varieties. Some of them are more simple such as pepperoni or cheese. Others are more complex such as Chicken Alfredo or Hawaiian.

"We have ten different varieties," Blake said. "We have the most variety at the restaurant. It is more limited at the food trucks."

The business recently made an appearance in Blackfoot at the Celebrate Blackfoot event. They plan to come again in August for the Shoshone-Bannock Festival.

"We had done Fort Hall for four or five years, but this is the first time we had done anything outside of that event," Blake said.

Blake said Coned Pizza was well received in Blackfoot. He said the people made them feel welcome and their was interest in their products. They were especially busy on the Saturday night they were there.

"Everyone was vocal about their interest in the product," he said. "It was exciting to serve the people and get that kind of welcome."

The best part about operating Coned Pizza for Blake is interacting with all the people that he meets. He also enjoys going to all the different events.

"I like the different events and getting to deal with people face to face and seeing how the product excites people and working with the community so closely," he said.

Blake hopes to open a new Coned Pizza food truck. He said they want to open another food truck instead of a restaurant because it would be able to go to different events throughout East Idaho.

"We're hoping to find a partner in East Idaho who would run events more consistently," he said.

They plan to open the food truck as soon as they are able to find a partner to run it. More information about the upcoming food truck will be made available in the coming months.

"We have the documents now," he said. "We just haven't opened our first franchise location yet. We're on the lookout for partners."
