    The Bosque County Commissioners Court during its regular meeting on Monday, March 18, approved receiving and filing the lake patrol contract award from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office.

    The contract covers two years of law enforcement service by the sheriff’s office: from May 3, 2024, to September 2, 2024 ($84,409.57), and from May 2, 2025, to September 1, 2025 ($90,882.24).

    The second year was noted as an option year in the contract for increased services at Lake Whitney.

    The contract noted, “Only a warranted Contracting Officer (either a Procuring Contracting Officer (PCO), or an Administrative Contracting Officer (ACO)), acting within their delegated limits, has the authority to issue modifications or otherwise change the terms and conditions of this contract. If an individual other than the Contracting Officer attempts to make changes to the terms and conditions of this contract, you shall not proceed with the change and shall immediately notify the Contracting Officer.”

    The contract outlined the patrol schedule in both years, including extra shifts for holidays during the summer months. In both years, the extra shifts add up to 96 hours.

    Fireworks

    The court approved an order authorizing the sale and use of certain fireworks in unincorporated areas of Bosque County for San Jacinto Day.

    The sale and use period are between Tuesday, April 16, and Saturday,April 21.

    Fireworks can only be sold by retail fireworks permit holders.

    Theorderexpiresonthedate the TexasA&M Forest Service determines drought conditions exist in the county or midnight, April 21, whichever is earlier.

    San Jacinto Day is the celebration of the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. It was the final battle of the Texas Revolution where Texas won its independence from Mexico.

    Reports

    The court approved receiving and filing the February 2024 monthly report from Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Jeff Hightower.

    The Court approved receiving and filing the February 2024 monthly report from County Auditor Jesse Jobes.

    Continuing education

    The court approved receiving and filing the 2023 continuing education certificate for Bosque County County Commissioner Precinct 4 Ronny Liardon from the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas.

    Usual business

    The court approved the payment of claims, salaries, and wages against county and precinct funds.

    The court approved extending the COVID-19 Declaration of Local Disaster issued by the county judge, pursuant to Chapter 418 of the Government Code for another seven days.
