    Body

Volunteers moved blank bricks to the site of the future Bosque County Veterans Memorial on Monday, February 5.

Over the course of the day, it took two trips to move the five pallets of donated bricks to Meridian.

“A huge thank you to William for giving of his time and equipment to get these bricks moved,” project coordinator Andrea Wallum said. “A special thank you to Wallace Electric for allowing us to park the bricks there momentarily and use of the forklift.”

The blank bricks came from a donor who was selling her house in Morgan in June 2023, Wallum said.

The veterans memorial will be located at the southeast corner of Highway 6 and Highway 22 in Meridian.

    Raffle fundraiser

The Bosque County Veterans Memorial Committee will announce the winner of a raffle drawing on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at Ramblin’ Dans across from the memorial site.

Tickets to win guns and knives are $25 each. The winners must be at least 21 years old and legally qualified to purchase a firearm.

The first draw will be for a Radical Firearms Model RF15 Cal. 5.56 Custom: U.S. Flag Cerakote Paint Job.

The second draw will be for a Ruger Max-9 9mm Luger with a 3 3/16 inch barrel and a Rock Island Armory Rock Ultra FS 10 mm auto with a 5-inch barrel.

The third draw will be for two CobraTec Small FS-X DNS knives, one black and the other red.

Tickets have been distributed to the new feed store in Meridian on Highway 6, the Bosque Firearms store in Clifton, and Ramblin’ Dan’s Bar and Grill in Meridian.

The drawing is a fundraiser for the memorial whose next stage will consist of the installing of a wall and lettering.

    Paver bricks

The committee is still selling paver bricks that will honor veterans who served in the U.S. armed forces. The bricks will be placed at the memorial site.

Anyone –regardless of their residency– can purchase a brick to honor a veteran. The veteran can either be a resident or not be a nonresident of Bosque County.

Four brick sizes are available to order and range in price from $100 to $550. Donor bricks, souvenir bricks, and donor certificates can be ordered for an additional price as well.

    Donations

Donations can be made to: Bosque County Veterans Memorial P.O. Box 19 Meridian, Texas 76665.

Or you can make a deposit at the First National Bank in Meridian, Clifton, Valley Mills, or Waco.

For more information on donating to the memorial, contact Wallum at (254) 709-9503, email andrea. wallum@gmail.com, or visit www. bricksrus.com/ donorsite/bcvm.
