The Meridian Mobile Food Pantry is seeking volunteers to assist with its monthly food distributions within the city limits.

Jennifer Lumpkins, local mobile food pantry’s head coordinator, said having an additional 10 people work for an hour a month would be of great benefit to the pantry’s clients.

Currently, 12 people volunteer with the mobile food pantry’s operation, she said.

Once a month, the volunteers bring food inside the new food distribution hub after delivery by the Tarrant County Food Bank; then they divide the food into boxes and move the boxes into the client’s vehicles.

A few more volunteers are also needed to deliver food boxes to home-bound clients along two routes within the city limits. These in-town delivery routes are short enough to do within 30 minutes, Lumpkins said.

In 2023, the Meridian Mobile Food Pantry’s distribution hub moved from Meridian High School to the Epicenter Youth Complex located at 214 North Main Street in Meridian.

The Meridian mobile food pantry’s distribution is still on the second Wednesday of the month, running from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Volunteers are needed between 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Epicenter Youth Complex is a 501c3 nonprofit organization not affiliated with any church, although its vision and mission is faith-based.

'Thank you to First Methodist Church-Meridian for generously making their youth facilities available to us as part of the FMC Missions & Ministry,' Epicenter Executive Director Jennifer Pumpkins said.

The Epicenter’s mission is “to equip students of this generation with God-given tools that empower them to live an effective, abundant life, wholly devoted to the Kingdom of God.”
