Oregon father and two passengers die in Montana plane crash on way to Donald Trump rally
An Oregon man and two unidentified passengers died in a plane crash in Montana last Thursday while flying to a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Bozeman. Donald Long Jr., 46, was piloting the plane around 4 p.m. when it crashed into Montana’s Crown Mountain, which is located roughly 20 miles west of Augusta, the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Fishing vessel ablaze off Brookings, Three rescued with help of Good-Samaritan
An offshore blaze prompted a dramatic rescue on Tuesday evening, after a fishing vessel caught fire nearly 50 miles off Brookings. The Mariah K caught fire endangering Emanuel Silveira and two others. According to Petty Officer Briana Carter with the U.S. Coast Guard 13th District, another local vessel, Eli’s Tide, reported the fire to the Columbia River Coast Guard Sector and was on hand helping rescue efforts. The opposition to BLM's Last Chance timber project
The federal Bureau of Land Management plans a timber sale that is drawing opposition. The sale north of Grants Pass is called the "Last Chance Project." The project would remove more than 3,400 acres of spotted owl habitat, target nearly 1,300 acres of riparian areas for logging, and allow dozens of miles of new logging roads, including through critical coho salmon habitat and old-growth stands.
