2024 LAWRENCE COUNTY FAIR LINEUP
(SUMNER) The 2024 Lawrence County Junior Fair gets started this weekend and runs thru all of next week, along U.S. Route 50, between Sumner and Bridgeport. With general fair exhibits to be entered today, on this Friday, the fair’s first main event is the Miss Lawrence County Pageant tomorrow night at 7:00 with a new Miss Lawrence County Fair Queen, a new Junior Miss and new Little Miss to all be crowned in the fairgrounds main building. Then it’s Church at the Barns Sunday morning at 10:00, followed by the Hay Bale Contest at 11:00, the Battle of the Barns at 12:00, the ABC Baby Contest at 4:00, and the ATV Rodeo at 7:00 Sunday night. The Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull starts at 6:00 Monday night, followed by Truck Pulling at 7:00. It’s the Redneck Dirt Drags Tuesday night at 7:00, the Classic BBQ dinner from 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday evening, and Pig Wrestling at 7:00 Wednesday night. The Youth 4-H Livestock Auction is Thursday afternoon at 1:30 with Go-Kart Racing that night at 7:00. Then the Power Wheels for Youth Derby next Friday night at 6:00 and Demo Derby action to wrap up the fair both Friday night and Saturday night at 7:00 each night.

Volunteers build new fences for local stable
Volunteers visited Koteewi Stable and Trails, managed by Ben’s Ranch Foundation in Noblesville, on June 22 to help build fences. Brose McVey, Ben’s Ranch founder and executive director, said the foundation’s management of the stables creates a platform for teens to work, learn and grow by caring for the horses and facility. They also learn about the business aspects of running a stable.
