KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Merriam Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting at a home near the 9200 block of W. 49th Street — between England Avenue and Grandview Boulevard — early Monday morning.

According to police, officers were dispatched on reports of gunshots near a home at approximately 1:25 a.m.

Upon investigation, officers determined that there had been an argument between a couple at the home earlier that day. It was reported that one of the people involved in the argument had left the home and later returned, continuing the argument.

Police said that the person was eventually asked to leave, and as they started to exit, one or more people started to fire multiple rounds into the home.

Merriam police are still investigating and announced that there is no further threat to the public.
