Two police officers injured while responding to disturbance at Merrick gym

Two police officers were injured at a Merrick gym after they responded to a call of disturbance. The incident took place at a Planet Fitness on Merrick Road on Sunday night. Police say that they arrived and suspect Getho Brevette drove off before getting into a car accident and returning to the gym. When Brevette was approached by police, he allegedly threw an unknown liquid on two officers, ripping the body cam off of one of the officers. He also allegedly tried to take one of the officer's guns. Police say Brevette continued to be combative before finally being arrested. He now faces charges of assault, grand larceny, and sexual abuse. Police did not elaborate on the reasoning for the sexual abuse charge at this time. "
