Stingrays take part in NLAC Summer Classic

MERRILL, Wis. — Ten Stingray swimming team members took part in the NLAC Summer Classic at Merrill Middle School on Saturday.

The Stingrays collected 25 top-10 finishes in 39 events.

Ethan Howarth (17) had the best finish on the boys’ side with a second-place swim of 2:26.43 in the 200-yard backstroke.

Audrey Worthan (10) paced the Stingray girls with a third-place time in the 100-backstroke, finishing the race in 1:44.56.

Worthan also authored the biggest improvement of the week for the Stingrays after trimming 11.10 seconds off her prior best time in the 50-freestyle, finishing 11th overall in 43.56.

Bailee Drees (11) also showed significant improvement in the 100-freestyle by knocking off 7.97 seconds from her previous personal-best to finish 14th overall in 1:34.50.

Nick Schetter (28) had the Stingray boys’ biggest improvement after shaving 4.34 seconds off his time in the 100-butterfly, finishing in 2:03.03, good for fourth overall.
