    Wausau Legion baseball routs Merrill

    MERRILL – Wausau scored five times in the opening inning and rolled to a 9-1 win over Merrill in an American Legion baseball game Wednesday.

    Jed Vanden Sanden capped the first-inning rally with a two-run single to put Wausau up 5-0. The Bulldogs added single runs in the second and third, and scored two more in the fourth.

    Dylan Dobratz picked up the pitching win for Wausau (11-12, 3-6 Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference), allowing two hits and one run in four innings. Tony Iaffaldano tossed three shutout innings to finish off the victory.

    Wausau is back in action Thursday at Marshfield.
