Why Adding Another Liquor License in an Economically Distressed Madison Neighborhood is a Bad Idea
In today’s blog post, I outline why I strongly oppose the approval of a new liquor license at 2702 E. Washington Ave and urge the Common Council to reject this proposal on today’s agenda. Despite my deep respect for the residents and Alders who dedicate their time to various committees, boards, and commissions, I believe the Alcohol License Review Committee (ALRC) has fallen short of its mission to “enhance public safety and quality of life.” This post will provide a detailed overview of the compelling reasons why granting this license would be a bad idea for this community.

MONROE, Wis. (WMTV) - Monroe Police’s phone number is being spoofed and used to make scam phone calls, the department said Tuesday. The department’s general phone number of (608) 329-2400 appears on the recipient’s phone, then the caller asks for normally protected identifying information including social security numbers, dates of birth and other information that could compromise an identity.

Fourth of July festivities will be in full swing this week. The Cap Times assembled a list of where to go for music, parades, food and fireworks to celebrate the holiday. The city announced some streets around Warner Park will be closed for the show.
Former Wisconsin volleyball assistant coach joins Columbia staff
Former Wisconsin volleyball assistant Angel Agu joined Columbia University as its newest assistant coach on June 28. Agu, a former four-year volleyball player at the University of Dayton, served as a volunteer assistant coach in Madison from 2018-19. In her two years on the Badgers’ sidelines, Wisconsin pocketed eight AVCA All-America awards and amassed a 52-14 mark — including 19 wins over nationally-ranked squads and a staggering 33-7 record in Big Ten play.
A summer league baseball team will cosplay as Chris Farley, live in a van by the river for 1 night
The Madison Mallards are the most popular college baseball summer league team in the country. Years of attendance numbers, owing in part to the team’s ever-expanding all-you-can-eat/drink Duck Blind and the city’s thirst for live sports, back this up. That means the Mallards don’t need gimmicky name changes...
Wisconsin football offers talented multi-sport class of 2025 specialist
The Wisconsin Badgers extended an offer to class of 2025 long snapper Kallen Cosper on Tuesday. Ranked a 4.5 star via Rubio Long Snapping, the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder has also received an offer from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. The outlet also ranks the Texas native as the No. 26 long-snapper recruit in his class.

Based on the URL of UW’s release, Martín Mesa will be a walk-on.
