The Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network will hold its 22nd annual Walk for Hope on Sunday, Aug. 4 at Saginaw Valley State University. Each year, the mental health and suicide awareness 5K Walk/Run raises funds and awareness to provide training and resources for mental health and suicide prevention. The Response Network anticipates about 2,000 people attending the event, therefore early registration is encouraged.

Grass cutting leads to alleged assault
An argument about who was supposed to mow the lawn reportedly led to one Midland man being set to the emergency room and another landing behind bars. Nicole Anderson, 51, of Midland, was arrested in the 1500 block of Renee Drive on July 19, for misdemeanor assault aggravated. He is lodged in the Midland County Jail on a $1,000 cash surety bond. Anderson was arraigned July 22, before Midland County District Court Magistrate Gerald Ladwig.
Deadline for Absentee Ballots for August 6 Primary Election
July 26, 2024 – Registered voters in the city who wish to receive an absentee ballot for the August 6 Primary Election must submit their application by mail or via email by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024. The Midland City Clerk’s office will be open Saturday, August 3 and Monday, August 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to receive in-person requests for absentee ballots, allow in-person absentee ballot voting, register new voters, and assist voters with questions.
