Mesa residents Timothy Fritzsche and Kaleb Bayse each received $5,000 Courtesy Cares scholarships from Courtesy Automotive Group to advance their higher education or that of one of their family members.

Fritzsche has been an automotive technician for more than 30 years and his ability to solve puzzles earned him the nickname “Shop Dad,” according to a release.

He has five children and one is an incoming freshman at Grand Canyon University.

Fritzsche applied for the scholarship to help fund his daughter Caimbryn’s pursuit of a bachelor of science degree in psychology this fall, it states.

Bayse will put his $5.000 toward an associate degree in digital media and visual arts, the release states.

Having spent the last four years with Courtesy, Bayse worked his way up from lot attendant to one of two lead photographers for the dealership’s inventory across Arizona. Bayse says winning a Courtesy Cares Scholarship has re-aligned his passion for digital media with future career opportunities and allowed him to learn technical skills, it states.
